Private by architecture

YOUR FILES NEVER LEAVE YOUR DEVICE.

Every tool above — rendering, search, editing, signing, scanning, OCR — runs locally. Printing and sharing hand the file to your own operating system, only when you tap. Read the full policy →

No accountNo sign-up, no profile, no tracking identifier.
No ad SDKNothing profiles you, and nothing sells you.
No analyticsWe cannot see which files you open.
No uploadsDocument content is never sent anywhere.

The one outbound request QPdf can make is the optional on-device OCR model download — roughly 21 MB, verified against a pinned SHA-256 — and only if you ask for OCR. No part of your document is included in it.

Questions

THE THINGS PEOPLE ASK FIRST.

Is QPdf really free?
Yes. There is no subscription, no paid unlock and no watermark on exported files. Features are not gated behind a tier.
Do my documents get uploaded anywhere?
No. Rendering, search, editing, forms, signing, scanning and OCR all run on your device. Document content is never sent to us or a third party.
Then why does OCR need the network?
Only to fetch the text-recognition model the first time you use it — about 21 MB over HTTPS, checksum-verified. Your document is not part of that request.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no profile and no tracking identifier — nothing to log in to and nothing for us to hold about you.
Is the redaction tool safe to rely on?
Secure redaction produces an image-only copy and removes searchable text, interactive content, metadata and signatures — not a black rectangle over text that can still be copied.
Which permissions does it ask for?
Camera, only while scanning; photos or files, only when you pick something to open. Decline either and the rest keeps working.
